Limited Edition "MODALE"
The First Phase
80s英国ライディングジャケットを元にオールタンニングレザーでモディファイさせるべく、マテリアルやディテール、シルエットに
至るまで、1から新しいオリジナルレザージャケットを創り上げるこの企画。
レザージャケットに精通したLightningモヒカン小川さんと共に
最高の1着にする為、幾度も意見を出し合い、吸い上げながら イメージを膨らませる。
オリジナルの英国ジャケットとこれまでの弊社でリリースした作品を元にディスカッションを繰り返す中で、レザーでこのオイルドコットンの質感を再現する為に、新たなオリジナルレザーを開発する事となった。
スタンダードに永く多くのファンをもつこの英国ライディングジャケットの普遍的な魅力を失わず、より美しいカタチを追求して
各所のディテールも抜かりなくデザインを詰めていく。
This project aims to create a brand-new original leather jacket from scratch, modifying an 80s British riding jacket with all-tanned leather, focusing meticulously on materials, details, and silhouette.
Together with Lightning Mohican Ogawa, an expert in leather jackets, we exchanged numerous ideas and feedback to create the best jacket, expanding our vision in the process.
The Second Phase
前回のデザイン画を元にファーストパターンをつくり、厚手の
キャンバスでトワルを組んでみた。
実際に着用して各所のサイズ感を詰めていく。
襟の形状、ポケット位置、アームの太さ、シルエット、サイズ感等、入念に幾度も確認し、美しいバランスと着心地を追求して決定していく。
加えて、パッチやボタン、ファスナー、リブ、ライニングetcの
仕様等もバランスを考慮しながら煮詰めていく。
マテリアルのレザーカラーはオリーブとブラックの2色で決定。
どちらもその合わせやすさとこのモデルにマッチするカラーを
チョイスした。そのカラーエイジングの期待値も高い２色。
そして、モデル名はBEDALEのオマージュとして『 MODALE 』と決まった。
Based on the previous design sketches, we created the first pattern using heavy canvas.
We wore it and adjusted the sizing in various areas. We meticulously checked and finalized the collar shape, pocket placement, arm width, silhouette, and overall fit multiple times to achieve a beautiful balance and comfortable wear.
In addition, we refined the details of patches, buttons, zippers, ribs, lining, etc., while considering the overall balance.
The model was named "MODALE" as an homage to BEDALE.
The Third Phase
この企画で最も重要な箇所となるマテリアル。
レザーは天神ワークスオリジナルの"oiled kip leather"を元に
タンナーさんとさらなるレザーの可能性を追求して
天神×タンナー×モヒカン小川でオイルドコットンを越える新しい
質感のオリジナルレザーを開発する。
まず、銀面を擦る事でマットな質感をアレンジ。その際に当てる
ペーパーも粗さを変え研究を重ね、理想の質感に拘った。
次にオイル。こちらは水性オイルを選択し、オイルドキップの
倍の量のオイルを加える事で、その質感とこのレザーのもつ肌触りとバランスを追求した。
最後に表面の質感を整える。このエッセンスも重要で熱アイロンを何°Cで入れるかでその質感に大きく影響を与える。こちらも何パターンも温度を変えて試作を繰り返し、遂に理想の
オリジナルレザー"brushed kip leather"が完成した。
The most crucial aspect of this project is the material.
From our original "Oiled Kip Leather" we developped it further and comes a new original leather texture that surpasses oiled cotton.
First, we polished the grain surface to create a matte texture. We thoroughly researched and experimented with the coarseness of the sandpaper to achieve the ideal texture.
Next, we focused on the oil. We chose water-based oil and added twice the amount used in oiled kip leather, striving to achieve a balance between texture and the natural feel of the leather.
Finally, we refined the surface texture. This step was crucial, as the temperature of the hot iron used significantly affects the texture. We conducted numerous trials, varying the temperature, until we finally perfected our ideal original leather, "brushed kip leather."
Modale
オリジナルパターン、オリジナルマテリアルに加え、ボタンやパッチ等もこのモデル用にオリジナルで作り上げた。
さらに特筆すべきは襟とリブ。この2点もレザーの可能性を
追求し、研究を重ね遂にレザーで再現させた。
これら最高の素材を最高の縫製技術で組み上げる。。
そして、完成した『 MODALE 』。着るもの、見るものを魅了し、 後に語り継がれであろう、レザージャケットの新しい価値観がここに誕生した。
この後の物語は所有された方に委ねるが、その使い込んでいくエイジングストーリーがさらにその魅力を引き出してくれる事は
間違いないであろう。
ぜひその新しい感覚を各々が体現し、個々のレザーストーリーを 刻んで行って欲しい。
In addition to the original pattern and original material, we also created original buttons and patches specifically for this model.
Notably, we also focused on the collar and ribbing. We explored the possibilities of leather for these two parts and, after extensive research, finally managed to recreate them in leather.
These top-quality materials were assembled with the highest level of sewing techniques.
And thus, "MODALE" was completed. This leather jacket, which will captivate both the wearer and the observer, represents a new concept in leather jackets that will surely be talked about for years to come.
The future story of this jacket is left to its owner, but there is no doubt that its aging story, as it is worn and used, will further enhance its appeal.
We hope each person will embody this new sensation and engrave their own leather story.
